The Philadelphia 76ers have experienced sickness and injuries throughout their squad in recent months. Regretfully, they will be dealing with identical problems when they play the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
The Sixers devalued their seasoned guard Cam Payne ahead of the game. Payne is listed as questionable on the injury report because he is allegedly unwell.
Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Payne won’t be permitted to play on Sunday in Dallas.
A few weeks ago, Payne became a member of the Sixers after being acquired as a trade acquisition before the deadline. Following his 47-game stint in Milwaukee, Payne was acquired by the Sixers in the trade that sent Patrick Beverley packing to join the Milwaukee Bucks.
The seasoned guard made his debut in the Sixers’ first game following the deadline. Payne played 35 minutes in his debut game as a Sixer, scoring 20 points on 44 percent shooting in a six-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Payne’s minutes have changed since then. With the return of De’Anthony Melton and the addition of veteran guard Kyle Lowry, the Sixers’ depth chart became more congested, limiting Payne’s playing time.
Payne spent 16 minutes on the floor on average this week. The seasoned guard shot 44 percent from beyond the arc and averaged nine points and five assists over the past two games. As long as he stays healthy, Payne may see an uptick in playing time as the Sixers continue to struggle with injuries in their backcourt.
At 1:00 PM ET, the Sixers and Mavs will tip off.
